The Oscars | 2016

With the largest event in film taking place last night, there was plenty of gossip to be discussed this morning; Leo eventually winning his first ever Oscar for his leading role in the movie The Revenant, Mad Max walking away with 6 awards, and Sam Smith winning “Best Original Song” for his lyrical masterpiece that was Writing’s on the Wall.

The Oscar’s is one of many nights every year when celebrities, actors and actresses attend the famous red carpet in their floor length ball gowns and dapper black tie’s to celebrate the movie greatness that has occurred over the last year. Thousands gathered in celebration and we thought we would share of our favourite moments we spotted on the night, here goes…

Heavily pregnant model Chrissy Teigen looked stunning in a floor length skin coloured dress, covered with red embroidery and embellishments, with lovely train detailing. Husband John Legend looked very debonair in an all black suit and oversized bow tie!

Jennifer Lawrence looked elegant in an all black lace ball gown. Skin colour dresses were also a reoccurring trend on this year’s red carpet, as well as simple hair and minimal makeup. Sometimes you don’t have to go all out with your hair and makeup, keeping things effortless with stand-out gown and some jewels is the way forward.

Amy, released in early July last year, managed to grab an award for “Best Documentary,” richly deserved in our opinion. A true insight into the troubled life and death of Amy Winehouse.

Of course the main achievement of Oscars night was the win for movie superstar Leonardo Dicaprio, for his leading role in the movie The Revenant. After years of patiently waiting to receive the Best Leading Man Oscar he so was forever missing out on, he eventually got to embrace that 12 inch Golden statue.  Our hearts melted when we saw that wonderful moment in which Kate Winslet congratulates Dicaprio on his Oscar win.
