SONAR 2015 Photo Diary | Festival Season in Barcelona

Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain is center to a whole host of fabulous music festivals. From the electronic dance festival SONAR and alternative music festival Primavera, to Cruilla and Benicassim; tourists with a penchant for partying are spoilt for choice with this cosmopolitan city as their backdrop.

Here our guest poster Francesca Bianchi tells us in her photo diary about her trip to this years’ SONAR to get us in the mood for Benicassim which takes place just down the road from the city centre in Costa de Azahar…

In the centre of Barcelona you have a mixture of old and new; from the busy streets of the Ramblés which are jam packed with outside restaurants to the beach front bars and clubs which allow you to order a Mojito  for five euros while you watch the sunset. Breakfast/brunch in the city a must costing just two euros for a Caffe Con Leche and a croissant. The night time eateries are for tapas, paella and Cava.
Sonar was the event of the weekend [during my visit] with a huge array of top DJ’s but including the cool underground parties and secret loft soirees Barcelona turns into one big party event when festival season rolls round.

Enjoying a breakfast by the beach is one of the best parts about Barcelona. And you can wear your Wildfox sunnies all year round..

I started off on the Friday night by heading down to the beach; having a few cocktails in Pacha bar and then heading to Danzatoria to see Richy Ahmed play. The club was a mixture of VIP glamour and dance floor vibes with an amazing atmosphere and music to keep you moving until  6 AM.
Sunday was the main event for us, [as it was] an outside party called ELROW. This party was one of the wildest parties I have ever been to as [when] I walked in, there were guys dressed as giraffes and gorillas [alongside] people walking on stilts [whilst] spraying people with water.  There was a mesh tent covering the roof with umbrellas as well as  ice cannons blowing smoke and confetti into the crowd. In there back there was an awesome VIP area selling any kind of fruit cocktails you desired.  This party started at 9 am and went all through the night…

In top of all the crazy parties Barcelona has to offer during festival season, the Catalonian capital also boasts amazing architecture with Gaudi works’ everywhere.. There are some very chilled bus tours to see the beautiful city and also the hotels where you can chill by the pool and get a tan. All in all this city has everything…
