All eyes were on the celeb world this week as they strutted the runway at the Met Gala. At B Sunglasses though, we’ve been jetting off to wander the cobbled streets of Dubrovnik old town and celebrating literature with a guide to 2018’s best reading glasses. Read all the latest news here…
The Met Gala is the most prestigious fashion event in the world. Held in New York at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the event was founded back in 1948 by publicist Eleanor Lambert to encourage donations from New York’s high society. Every year, all the A-list stars and biggest names in fashion walk the runway in their most impressive styles of the year. The Met Gala celebrates the opening of its latest exhibition and the night is centred on the theme of this exhibition. Everything from Punk: Chaos to Couture, to China: Through the Looking Glass has had the stars pulling out all the stops for the night. This year was possibly the most eye-raising – Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. The outfits showcased were inventive and decadent.
Highlights this year included: Rihanna’s Papal ensemble; Sarah Jessica Parker’s nativity scene headpiece; and Blake Lively wearing a ginormous, jeweled red gown. As well as this, Hayley Baldwin and Shawn Mendes appeared for the first time as a couple, and 2 Chainz proposed to his long term girlfriend on the red carpet. There enough was drama and excitement to last until next year’s Met Gala.
Steal the modern and glamorous style of the Migo’s men in these round gold frames by Versace.
Our favourite eyewear styles were Kylie Jenner’s futuristic mini sunglasses that were covered in gems. Totally impractical but utterly fabulous. Sean Combs, better known as P Diddy, styled himself with a pair of round metal frames to match his slick Musika Frére getup. Colin Firth looked completely classical in a pair of thick frame black glasses. And, American hip hop trio Migos paired their colourful Versace suits with bold and glamorous eyewear styles.
This week, out favourite cycling club Muckle were all smiles at the Stamfordham GP in Northumberland. The team were all wearing Oakley frames.
