B Sunglasses Round-up | Sunglasses News 07 – 13 | News

Hello and welcome to another B Sunglasses Round-up here at B Sunglasses. Each week, our round-up seeks to find out all of the biggest eyewear and sunglasses news stories and collate them together into one place, making it easy and even fun to keep up to date on the latest eyewear news. Last week, we looked at the new Orbi Prime sunglasses with a built-in camera capable of taking 360° photographs and video recordings. This week, we’re looking Snapchat’s plan to sell its exiting new video recording sunglasses from quirky yellow vending machines! We’re also announcing the winner of this month’s competition and the advent of a new competition! Read on to find out more!

Snapchat Sunglasses Will be Sold from Big Yellow Vending Machines!

In an eventful week, full of surprises, Snapchat (the parent company of which is just called Snap) has announced that their new sunglasses (called Spectacles) that can record videos will be for sale from large yellow vending machines. This strange way of unrolling the product has been designed to appeal to Snapchat’s younger audience.

These yellow vending machines are called “Snapbots” and they will only spend a day in each neighbourhood before they are moved on to another. There’s a sort of guerrilla marketing at play here and it might be very interesting to see how it plays out.

The first Snapbot is already set up close to Snap’s HQ in Venice Beach and the future locations of the Snapbots can be tracked on the company’s website. The Snapbots will turn up on the map a day before they are due to arrive – so keep an eye on the website if you want to be in with a chance of snapping up your own Spectacles before their wider retail release.

We Have a Winner!

Last month, B Sunglasses ran a competition for one lucky person to win a £200 voucher to spend on anything in our designer glasses collection, along with free single vision lenses. We were overwhelmed with the enthusiastic entries to the competition. There was a total of 5870 entries across various platforms from 1821 people. We’re chuffed to bits that so many people entered and we’re pleased to announce that the winner of the £200 voucher is Keeley Atkinson, from Lancashire. The voucher is on its way to Keeley; congratulations! All of this makes us excited about our next big competition…

As an attempt to take destiny into our own hands, we thought we’d decide when the B Sunglasses pre-Christmas sale would start instead of leaving it up to the whims of Americans and when their Thanksgiving falls this year! So from today onwards our pre-Christmas sale has begun and it will continue until midnight on Cyber Monday (the 28th of November). In our Not-Black-Friday sale, we have dropped the prices on a huge number of our designer sunglasses and glasses – with some discounts dropping as much as 70% and nearly all items going for at least 20% off! So browse through our designer sunglasses and glasses collections before the 28th of November and find the perfect eyewear gift this Christmas.

Brand Focus: Persol

This week, we got a range of brand new Persol sunglasses and we’re really pleased to add them to our Persol sunglasses range. Persol has been a luxury sunglasses brand since it was founded in 1917 by Giuseppe Ratti. The brand initially catered for racing car drivers and pilots, but they soon realised that everyone else wanted to wear their sunglasses as well. With sporty, lively Italian design driving the brand ever since, they’re widely regarded as one of the best sunglasses designers in the world. Check out the entire range from the link above, but here’s a selection of the new arrivals:
