Welcome to yet another B Sunglasses Round-up! Every week, we try to find out the latest sunglasses news stories covering the fashion, technology, and sports industries — and anything else that takes our fancy! We also include lots of news about ourselves, including competitions, new designer brands, and our buying trips to look for the best new sunglasses collections. Last week, we looked at the various bloggers and Instagrammers talking about our sunglasses. This week, we’re talking about Rossignol’s first eyewear designs and about an exciting new addition to our designer collection: Calvin Klein!
New Collection: Calvin Klein
The most exciting news in the B Sunglasses headquarters is that we have added a sizable Calvin Klein eyewear collection to our online offering. We always try our best to buy in the best designer eyewear available, but due to time and budget restraints, some of the big guns slip through the net. And Calvin Klein is most certainly one of the big guns! We’re always excited when we get new models in, but this is a particularly special occasion. Eve wrote a longer brand spotlight earlier this week, but I’d like to include a smaller overview here as well.
Calvin Klein knew he wanted to be involved in the fashion industry at a young age, and he sketched his ideas out as a teenager, designing a plethora of dresses and women’s suits. He attended art school first, then he studied apparel design at Manhattan’s Fashion Institute of Technology. With an initial financial investment in 1968, Calvin Klein started off his fashion label with a range of dresses and coats. Klein’s austere approach to fashion connected with the general unpretentious fashion culture at the time in New York, so his initial fashion line was an instant success and his brand grew into the international fashion empire we know today.
Over the decades, Calvin Klein has won countless fashion awards and expanded his collections out into sportswear, accessories, and eyewear. He was even listed in Time magazine’s 25 most influential Americans. This new CK eyewear collection here at B Sunglasses has all the hallmarks that make this brand stand out from its contemporaries: there is a distinct New York aesthetic, the colour palate is dark, the materials rich yet often unadorned. Calvin Klein made a name for himself by producing sophisticated, modern fashion and we’re very pleased to have our own Calvin Klein eyewear range. Éclair Eating Contest for Charity!
A couple of weeks ago, we mentioned that we would be holding a charity event for the Metro Radio charity CASH4KIDS. The event included copious baked goods and a cream éclair eating contest — all in the name of charity (and fun!). We managed to raise £108, so we’re really pleased! We will continue to raise money for worthy charities, and if we can eat tasty treats while we’re at it, then all the better!
Freshers Giveaways at B Sunglasses!
To help out all of the new freshers this month, we’re giving away free Nerdwax or a sunglasses maintenance kit with every purchase. Nerdwax is made from beeswax and will help keep your glasses on your face whilst you begin your exciting student adventure. The maintenance kit will help you tend to your sunglasses or glasses, keeping them in top condition. Just enter the code from the image above when you buy anything from B Sunglasses!
Rossignol Teams up with Italia Independent
We always like finding out that more designer brands are turning their hand to eyewear. As designer eyewear gets more and more popular, it’s impossible for big brands to ignore. This week, it was unveiled that the French outdoor brand Rossignol will be designing its own range of unisex sunglasses in collaboration with seasoned eyewear brand Italia Independent.
As Italia Independent has previously collaborated with the likes of Fiat, Hublot, and Juventus (the football team!), we’re sure they have the experience to bring out the best in Rossignol’s first foray into the world of designer eyewear. They will do what they do best, and bring out the best in Rossignol’s outdoors aesthetic, helping them design sunglasses that fit with their brand.
You can look forward to this new collection in February and if you’d like to see a few of Italia Independent’s own designs, check out our Italia Independent sunglasses collection. Here are a few of our favourites:
