Welcome to this week’s B Sunglasses Round-up. Each week here at B Sunglasses we round up all biggest news about sunglasses and glasses in one place so that our readers can keep up to speed – and we also include stories about our new brands, competitions, and anything else any sunglasses fanatic might find interesting. On last week’s round-up we looked at the Swiss football team’s special slow-mo sunglasses designed to improve their anticipation and reaction skills. And this week, we’re looking Will.I.Am’s rude interview in which he wore sunglasses and headphones! And we’re also looking at the Scottish footballer who is wearing special sunglasses that help him with a rare eye condition.
Will.I.Am Wears Sunglasses and Headphones to Interview
Any fan of The Black Eyed Peas or the BBC show The Voice will be very familiar with Will.I.Am. He’s a strange character with his own line of sunglasses headphones. And this is perhaps why he wore both headphones and sunglasses to his interview with Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford on This Morning. As Holmes and Langsford we obviously distracted by his outfit, Will.I.Am explained that he was wearing sunglasses because he had “sleepy eyes”. And he justified wearing earphones because it was how he took calls, to which Langsford asked: “So you could be answering a phone call now, while speaking to us?” Will.I.Am, instead of reading the room and realising how awkward it was, went on to plug his own line of hi-tech headphones, saying “You guys have in-ears right? I have a similar situation. This is my product, you buy them at Apple stores and they have AI in them.”
This behaviour infuriated viewers, who all rushed to Twitter to complain about Mr I.Am’s rudeness. It got us wondering about what it is about wearing sunglasses indoors that Brits find so rude. There are probably several reasons, but the main one is likely because sunglasses give people a cool, detached look that is completely opposed to the whole point of giving an interview. The point is to talk and get to know a guest, and our eyes are our most expressive feature, and blocking people from seeing them stops them from being able to tell whether or not someone is sincere.
All else said, we love Will.I.am’s choice of sunglasses. The round rims and bright orange colour suit him perfectly. We can disagree with his social decorum but agree with his fashion tastes, can’t we?
Scottish Footballer Allowed to Use State-of-the-art Sunglasses to See the Ball
Falkirk’s goalie, Danny Rogers, was diagnosed with an extremely rare eye disorder called Flora Diapoly. The condition is a goalkeeper’s nightmare, as it prevents them from seeing the ball clearly. However, as luck would have it, Specsavers is one of the club’s partners, so it fitted him with a special pair of sunglasses that helps him see the ball. There was some concern that the SPFL might not permit him to wear the sunglasses in an official match, but a spokesperson for the SPFL said:
“When we got sight of this unusual appeal, we could see a clear case for giving Danny special dispensation.”
Flora’s Diapoly isn’t a well-known disorder, and we hope that Danny Rodger’s case pushes the condition out into the open a little more. We’re constantly impressed with the different eyewear technology we come across and we’re interested to see what other conditions specialist sunglasses might be able to fix!
Blogger and Instagram Coverage
Over the last few weeks, we’ve been covering the top bloggers and influential Instagrammers who have been wearing our sunglasses. This week, three different people have been spotted wearing designer sunglasses from B Sunglasses.

Rudy, from Sassyfashionrudy, wore our Stella McCartney cateye sunglasses this week and got well over 1,400 likes! We think Rudy’s whole outfit looks amazing and we’re especially pleased with her choice of eyewear! You can check out the entire Stella McCartney sunglasses collection today.

Christian Bendek – one of the top male fashion bloggers – chose to show off our Gucci keyhole sunglasses this week. Christian looks incredible, showing how good a man can look in a good pair of sunglasses and little else. We can’t promise you’ll look as good as Christian if you get your own pair of Gucci sunglasses, but it certainly can’t hurt your chances…
And lastly, we were very pleased to see the Muckle Cycling Club were competing in the recent Ballantyne Triathlon and the shot above features the triathlon team’s very own Lewis leading the charge with the help of his Oakley Jawbreaker sunglasses, which he and his other team members received courtesy of B Sunglasses. We sponsor MCC, so we’re very pleased to be able to supply them with some of the best cycling eyewear in the world.
And that’s all the eyewear news we have time for this week. Come back next week for another B Sunglasses Round-up.
