Welcome to this week’s B Sunglasses Round-up. Each week, we find the biggest sunglasses news stories and put them all in one place so that anyone interested in the eyewear industry can keep up to speed. We also like to include stories about any new designer brands we’ve added to our collection, competitions and giveaways we’re running, and anything else we think visitors to our site might be interested in. Last week’s round-up looked at the launch of Snap’s new Spectacles in the UK and this week we’re looking at our some of the most exciting blogger coverage we’ve had so far as well as taking a special look at the history behind the world-famous Levi’s brand.
Blogger Coverage for B Sunglasses Sunglasses
This year, we’ve had more coverage than ever by fashion bloggers and influential Instagrammers. We’re chuffed to bits with this and we’re trying to take stock of some of our blogger coverage every week or two. This week, Boris Bianchi – world-famous tattoo artist and friend of B Sunglasses – was in Iceland and shared the amazing photo featured above. The picture was taken at the famous Sólheimasandur plane wreckage where a plane crashed in November 1973. The US Navy airplane is a Douglas SuperDC-3 and it was forced to crash land on Sólheimasandur beach. The crew all survived the impact, but the plane was abandoned and still lies there over four decades later. Boris is wearing a pair of our Ray-Ban® Clubmasters in this photo, for anyone interesting in looking for their own pair!
Also this week, Amy, famous for her The Little Magpie blog, visited Portugal and wore a pair of our cateye Fendi sunglasses. Amy is one of our favourite fashion bloggers in the UK; she writes great pieces and she takes amazing photos. If you want to try and match her look, check out her blog and look through our Fendi sunglasses collection.
Carrera Competition: There is Still Time to Enter!
We’ve been mentioning our Carrera competition for the last few weeks because you have until the 17th of June to enter! We’re giving our customers the chance to win a stunning pair of Carrera’s square Aviator sunglasses. Click on this link to enter; all you have to do is answer a very simple question and then wait until the winner is announced. Carrera a fantastic eyewear brand and we’re so pleased to be hosting this competition.
Brand in the Spotlight: Levi’s
Earlier this week, Eve wrote a comprehensive piece about Levi’s for this week’s Brand in The Spotlight. We were inspired to focus on Levi’s this week as they have just released their Pride collection in support of LGBT rights. Make sure you read Eve’s article if you’d like to know more. However, I’d like to include a smaller brand spotlight here, looking at the history of Levi’s brand and their eyewear aesthetic.
It’s impossible to imagine the fashion industry without Levi Strauss & Co. It was founded in 1873 and is famous for producing the first ever pair of blue jeans – arguably one of the most important fashion items ever. Levi’s aesthetic has been defined by their denim products ever since and their eyewear has a raw, American sense of style that could only come from them. Check out our entire Levi’s sunglasses and Levi’s glasses collections today. Here’s a little preview of some of our favourite items:
Clearing Things Up About Our Free Prescription Lens Offer on our Glasses Range
Here at B Sunglasses, we do our best to provide customers with special deals and discounts that make us cheaper and easier to buy from than our competitors. It’s why we have free next-day delivery to the UK mainland for anyone who orders before 4pm and it’s why we offer free prescription lenses on all of the items in our designer glasses range. However, it’s recently been brought to our attention that this special offer confused a few people who thought that this free prescription lenses offer also applied to our designer sunglasses collection – which it unfortunately does not. This is because prescription sunglasses lenses are more expensive to produce, so we are unable to offer them for free. We just wanted to clear this up and this weekly round-up seemed like a good place to do this. If you have any questions about our special offers, please feel free to get in touch.
Celebrating Polaroid Polarised Lens Technology
This week, Jake wrote a piece celebrating Polaroid Eyewear as the pioneers of polarised lenses. There is a huge demand for polarised lenses as this special treatment reduces the glare from reflective surfaces such as water and glass that can irritate and damage your eyes. Polaroid – perhaps most famous for its cameras – is a highly influential eyewear brand and they developed the original polarisation technology that all modern eyewear designers use today. Polaroid has always taken its lens technology seriously and we’re pleased to stock such a large collection of Polaroid sunglasses here at B Sunglasses.
That’s all the eyewear news we have time for this week. Please come back next week for another B Sunglasses Round-up!
