In broader eyewear news, Snapchat has announced the launch of their new Sunglasses V2. The frames are fit with a small camera lens on their right hand side, and a matching circular LED ring on the left, which lights up when the sunglasses are taking photos or recording video. The launch of the V1 frames by Snapchat in 2016 didn’t have the success the company hoped for. Snapchat Hardware Vice-President Mark Randall said of the new V2 frames, the company have “listened to our customers and our community and incorporated every part of their feedback.” The new frames are able to record video as well as take photos, and they are more wearable in style. The £150 frames come in three colours: onyx; ruby; and sapphire. The frames are slimmer, have prescription options, and are underwater-capable. If that wasn’t enough, the sunglasses have a self-generated Wi-Fi connection that uploads the images and video straight to your smartphone. Another spectacular advancement for eyewear technology.
