Welcome to another B Sunglasses Round-up. Each week we gather together the biggest sunglasses news stories and put them into one place. We cover the recent technology, fashion, and sports news in the eyewear industry. On last week’s round-up we looked at ODG’s new extremely hard-wearing augmented reality glasses. This week we’re looking at the new Italian eyewear company that offers online customers printed paper replicas of the glasses and sunglasses they’re interested in. We’re also talking about the exciting new changes to our delivery policies!
New Italian Startup Company Provides Customers with Paper Models to Try On

All online clothing retailers are used to customers sending back items that don’t fit. The best retailers make it as easy as possible for customers to return unwanted items. In the eyewear industry, customers return items all the time – usually because they’ve realised that the eyewear they chose doesn’t look quite right on them. Obviously, it’s fine to send sunglasses back and forth, but it does costs a significant amount of money in the long run and it requires online retailers to carry a lot of extra stock. This is where the new Italian startup eyewear company Quattrocento comes in, as they’ve come up with a new idea that’s so simple it’s a wonder no one else thought of it before: paper frames that customers can try before they buy!
Quattrocento offer customers to opportunity to have five pairs of paper frames made up that are replicas of whichever models they are interested in. These frames are then posted to the customer. This way, customers can figure out the right model for them without having to bother returning anything. This will also save customers money, as they don’t have to pay return postage. One way we can foresee this being especially useful, is with prescription glasses, as they can usually not be returned, as the lenses have to be made especially for each customer’s specific prescription. So, whether or not this service ends up working well, it may still be a great option for prescription glasses and sunglasses.
If you’re wondering what the best sunglasses shape is for your face, then you don’t need to try on a paper replica to find out. Check out our face-shape guide today.

Brand in the Spotlight: Hugo Boss
This week, we’re taking a look at Hugo Boss. You can read Eve’s longer Hugo Boss piece here. Hugo Boss is one of the biggest fashion houses in the world, with various stores and outlets on almost every continent on the planet. Hugo Boss founded his company in 1923 in Germany, and it was very successful. Then WWII happened and Hugo Boss famously designed and made the Nazi’s uniforms. In the years after the war, the brand made huge efforts to make amends for this, trying to repair any damage caused.
When Hugo Boss died in 1948, his grandsons took over the company and steered it in a new direction: high fashion, menswear, fine tailoring. It was under Hugo Boss’s grandsons that the brand really took off and became the international powerhouse it is today. In 1985, they began producing eyewear with a distinct, modern aesthetic. BOSS eyewear is made to incredibly high standards, with the best materials. Their reputation for quality as well as style is integral to the brand’s identity. You can shop our Hugo Boss sunglasses today, but we thought we outline a few of our favourite models below:
