R.I.P MCA

The world of music is in mourning after the deeply saddening news of the death of one of Beastie Boys founding members Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch at the age of 47.

The Brooklyn-born rapper had been battling cancer since he was diagnosed in 2009.

Yauch was too sick to attend the bands induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last month instead sending a letter dedicating the award to his band-mates and their fans.

Along with being a musician Yauch was also a passionate campaigner for Tibetan rights and a director, he directed numerous Beastie Boys music videos under the alias Nathanial Hornblower.

However it will be as one third of the pioneering Hip-Hop act Beastie Boys that Yauch will be remembered most fondly for.

One of the biggest bands of the late 80’s and 90’s the Beastie Boys released the biggest selling debut album in Columbia records history with Licensed to Ill in 1986.

Famed for not only their musical style but their brand of street style in which they brought to the early Hip-Hop scene, even now the band still show others how to look cool as you get older.

Yet even with all the Beastie Boys wardrobe changes one thing remained the same one member of the trio would almost always don a pair of super cool sunglasses.
