This year, the new Police sunglasses collection was at the top of our packing list for our Mallorcan holiday. The lifestyle brand brings out new contemporary styles every season. Police was launched in 1983 as a bold, urban lifestyle brand for those who set out to get noticed. The name itself evokes the American “on the road” lifestyle and strong urban spirit of NYC – it’s inspiration. Over the years, the Police attitude has developed into an iconic part of contemporary fashion and the brand is a favourite of many celebrities. Police’s line-up of famous ambassadors itself is impressive, with Bruce Willis, George Clooney, David Beckham, Antonio Banderas and Neymar Jr, all representing the company and their ethos. The Police “community” is made up of similar people, who are driven, influential and spirited. People growing up in the ’80s and ’90s are familiar with Police and their success in the industry, but this season Police are revitalising parts of their image to cater to a younger audience more strongly. Most recently, Game of Thrones’s Sophie Turner has been shot for Police in a vibrant and rebellious style by photographer Brooklyn Beckham. This captivating originality and flair is key to each new collection and campaign.
The latest campaign video “Quiet Rebels” is part of the brand’s new direction. Celebrating strength and rebellion has always been key to Police but the way of rebellion is every generation’s own. This campaign encourages the rebels of today, modern men and women who challenge themselves to overcome all limits, leaving a mark on the world they live in through their choices and their desire to express themselves. “Today, the brand is aimed the the Quiet rebels, young people who want to make a mark in the world through their choices and their desire to express themselves. These new rebels challenge themselves and overcome all limits and their fight has become a form of discipline and a drive for excellence,” says Ian Lucas, distributor of Police sunglasses. It’s impossible not to be inspired when watching the video as Police push for freedom and individuality in everyone and every style.
Police haven’t stopped there this summer, they’ve also developed a fantastic new project called “Leaps of Faith.” The project explores ten people and their ten different stories that inspire us to take the leap of faith in life. In each story, the teller shares how they affirmed their own freedom by stepped out of their comfort zone, beyond their routine, into the unknown. Police have searched the world to understand what it means to be a master of your own destiny and to put a face to the values that have always driven the brand. Police say “Because life is the result of the choices we make. Some of them, the most radical ones, have the power to rewrite our own history and unmistakably define who we are.”
The first chapter, “If you avoid your problems they will follow you wherever you go,” tells the story of Claudio Pelizzeni and his leap of faith. Claudio left his bank job and set off a 1000-day trip around the world. He didn’t board a single plane. The story shares his worries about traveling, and how he overcame them to have the most valuable experience of his life. The other stories are equally as inspiring, we hear from digital nomad Masaharu Hayataki and Kim Hou, who is fighting to make changes in the fashion industry.
Police’s metropolitan attitude creates eyewear collections that are striking and contemporary. The urban frames are remarkably versatile however, and ideal for this time of year when summer matures into autumn.
The Drive 2 frames in matte dark blue were a top choice for a getaway. They’re sophisticated, lightweight and go with any outfit in your suitcase.
Lounging by the pool or diving into a new book is made easier when you’re protected and styled with Police sunglasses.
The Highway Two style is a slick style, finished with a metal detailing on the sides of the frames and a double bridge detailing. Again, this Police pair will go with any look, at every occasion.
We know, most of us have finished jetting off for summer adventures. September is only steps away from us and holidays will have to wait until next year now. But, Police eyewear is for those who chase their dreams everyday. You can wear these to work, to grab lunch, go shopping, driving, or anything else. The Storm Light sunglasses are a comfortable and simple design, with effortlessly smart matte frames injected with colour by the red arms.
Polarised frames are always a good option for day-to-day wearing. The lens technology reduces glare, optimises visual clarity, and reduces eye strain, making them comfortable to wear all day long.
The Track 6 sunglasses feature in two bold colour frames: matte blue with orange stripes and matte black with red stripes. The splashes of vibrant colour on each pair are along the arms, so the style can still be paired with everything in your wardrobe.
Add a contemporary touch of attitude to your style with a pair of new Police sunglasses. The collection is varied, so if you didn’t see a pair you fancy here then explore our full collection and find the right frames for you.
