New York Fashion Week | SS15 is here

It’s that time of year again! Fashion Week always manages to soften the blow of summer’s end because we know we have dozens of wonderful trends to look forward to in Spring/Summer 2015. Find out which Trans-Atlantic trends have got us all worked up for next season…  The fashion calender’s biggest and brightest event as always kicked off in New York last week with countless celebrities in attendance beneath the twinkling lights of the Big Apple. With catwalk shows from Lacoste, Victoria Beckham, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and Diesel, the guest list read as a who’s who of America’s finest fashion moguls. Among the celebrities, Vogue spotted blogger Ella Catliff of La Petite Anglais looking tres chic as usual – not to mention former Disney wild child Miley Cyrus rocking up in crazy ‘medicine pill’ sunglasses with only a pair of pasties to conceal her modesty! Tommy Hilfiger

Kendal Jenner took to the catwalk for the Tommy Hilfiger runway show which was beautifully inspired by late ’60s and ’70s rock’n’roll. The Sergeant Pepper vibe shone through with embellished concert t-shirts, colorful metallic stripes, Band Uniform style jackets and patchwork denim; all with a vintage feel in rich maroons and red. In a floral fusion of Woodstock and Glastobury, Tommy Hilfiger put on one of the most lively and colourful shows of the week.

Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham took her latest collection in a new direction which fused perfectly with her chic and ladylike fashion DNA. Think tailored hopsack, Safari mini-dresses, clean tailoring and her signature muted palette. There was also a twee splash of colour with pink floral print, brightening up the catwalk for a fresh summer feel.

Lacoste stayed true to their identity for their SS15 collection with fine tailoring and futuristic athletic chic. There were clean lines and and precise lean tailoring as far as the eye could see with a sporty zest of colour to liven things up. Oranges, blues, red and purple permeated this super modern collection with its’ refined silhouettes and delicate fabrics.

Diesel Black Gold

Tough leathers, stud detail and star print defined this collection by Diesel Black Gold for a refined and grown up rock star look. Best known for its’ urban streetwear and hard-wearing denim, Diesel expose midriffs a-plenty with a series of crop tops, tailored high waist trousers and slinky skirts along with some signature dyed denim.

Tom Ford

A tough lux look with undertones of gothic grunge made Tom Ford’s SS15 stand out from the crowd. His rock-chick models swaggered down the catwalk with choppy, tousled hair and heavy black liner in a range of risque outfits. Flashes of stockings, sheer blouses (complete with sequined pasties to hide their modesty), leather and sparkles were especially prominent with hints of ’70s glam and androgyny. This super sexed up collection made up in attitude what it lacked in colour with its’ mainly monochrome pieces and varied textures.
