Giles Deacon wowed crowds at London Fashion Week with his new collection which features a test shot taken of model Amber Valletta for Prada back in 1997.
The similarities between the original image (left) and the image printed onto Deacon’s Spring/Summer 2014 line were striking and Deacon revealed that Miuccia Prada, who is also the face behind Miu Miu, was happy for him to use it.
The test shot taken by Glen Luchford was never used in the final campaign and was digitally imposed onto Deacon’s collection which varied from sheer shirts to silk dresses and echoed the ’90s theme of his designs perfectly. Deacon also incorporated Adidas Gazelles onto his runway show as those were the shoes worn by Valletta on shoot; though they are not visible in the shot. Other images used featured Kate Moss and gave a romantic post-modern Renaissance feel whilst the rest of the collection kept up the Nineties vibe by featuring lip print and pink themed patterned designs. Deacon’s models each wore their hair in a tousled braids with large oversize sunglasses and dewy minimalist make-up for a casual look which boasted a high fashion edge.
We think his collection was spec-tacular.
