The perpetual habit of halfheartedly covering an old t-shirt in fake blood, for the novelty of Halloween, can finally be broken. This year, truly terrify yourself at Universal Studio’s Halloween Horrors events. Take on the spoooooky nightmares of Halloween history all in one place… if you think you’re brave enough.

Orlando Universal Studio awakens for another terrifying Halloween season of ghouls, ghosts, monsters and maniacs. The streets are designed to transport you into your worst nightmare and give you spooks you won’t be able to shake off until it’s time for Halloween Horrors again next year. There are nine different haunted houses, live shows, scare zones, mutants waiting on every corner and, of course, shrieking rides.

For 2017, the haunted houses are some of the best themes yet, detailed by Universal’s designers and special effects pros. ‘Here’s Johnny’: Jack Nicholson’s portrayal of the homicidal maniac still haunts the dreams of people today, as powerfully as it did when released. The Shining themed haunted house puts you in the isolated position, ready to combat a psychological thriller live. If you’re not shaking in your boots after running from The Shining, try the Saw: The Games of Jigsaw haunted house. One of Halloween’s creepiest movies- imagine being trapped in one of Jigsaw’s gruesome games. Well now you don’t have to, the traps are set and they’re ready for you. Other houses this year include the disturbing American Horror Story: Volume 2, Horrors of Blumhouse and Dead Waters, the hellish realm of the Voodoo Queen. Will you survive them all?

Safety can not be found beyond the houses. The streets of Orlando Universal Studios are equally as chilling. 5 nightmarish scare zones are full of frights at every turn. Returning from last year to frighten more visitors is The Purge zone. No one is safe. Do not let your guard down or you will become part of the American tradition of purging. Moving on, enter the Festival of the Deadliest, where the dead party hard and invite you to join them. If partying with the dead hasn’t satisfied your dark humour, try the Trick ‘R Treat zone: ‘Break the rules. Pay the Price. That’s the murderous moral of the five twisted stories in Tick ‘r Treat, a darkly hilarious tribute to Halloween.’ Other zones to test your nerves include The Invasion and Alters of Horror.

They’re going to give you one mind-blowing and shocking dance performance that will escort you from this world to the great beyond’ says Universal.

Finally of course, the main event. The rides. Universals rides need you to prepare yourself to lose your voice from screaming as you’re plummeted at high speed. The Revenge of The Mummy will drop you in total darkness, with fireballs, swarms of beetles and a terrifying army of mummies. For all you Hogwarts fans, ride the Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, a 3D multidimensional ride certain to blow your mind. Board the training vehicle at the Men in Black Alien Attack ride and kill the escapees from the intergalactic prison transport. Perhaps not obviously spooky is The Simpson’s Ride, but you better cling on tight as you crash your way through Krustyland.

Universal Studios in Hollywood, Singapore and Japan also host Halloween Horrors in their own unique way. What better way to spend Halloween than scaring the sh*t out of yourself and your friends?
