The anti-authoritarian ideologies of some of Britain’s youth have never fully died, but it’s safe to say they were never more apparent than in the Punk days. New York Dolls, Television, and the Ramones in New York City, the Sex Pistols, the Clash, and the Damned in London, and The Saints in Brisbane all recognized as the driving force in Punk Rock for America, UK and Australia, and were at the forefront of the punk fashion trend that came with it. For the most part, punk took root in local scenes that tended to reject association with the mainstream. The Punk subculture of anti-authoritarianism, tight jeans, piercings, leather, offensive t-shirts and an air of stick-it-to-the-man attitude. While it has never completely vanished, the Punk fashion look seems to be making a welcome return. We take you through some of our favourite punk inspired eyewear looks out now.
Crafted from durable lightweight acetate in matte gunmetal, these Ray-Ban® sunglasses take inspiration from the rounded of the 1960s. But we also think they have a real punk rock feel to them given their rounded frames and mean looking matte grey frame. Thanks to the punk trends of today, it is one of the hottest looks on this year’s catwalk. Complimented by 51mm grey mirror polarised lenses, specially engineered o reduce glare, these Ray-Ban® sunglasses are perfect for the beach and serve up a slice of nostalgia that remains stylish today, tomorrow and beyond.
We love these Polaroid sunglasses because they are remeniscent of The Ramone’s original album covers where members of the band are seen wearing very similar styles along with their signature black leather. Fusing fashion and function, these Polaroid Full-Lens Pilots have a blue frame with grey flash polarised lenses at a massive 99mm, joining at the bridge to form one lens. These sunglasses are a dramatic, modern interpretation of the classic Pilot style a perfect statement piece for someone who doesn’t mind standing out from the crowd.
