Milan Fashion Week came to a close this week and there’s been some incredible styles showcased both on and off the runway. Best-loved designers like Fendi, Gucci and Versace have shared their stunning Fall collections and the fashion elite have watched from their seats looking equally as fabulous. Take a look at our top picks from Milan…
Autumnal colours from Antonio Marras
Antonio Marras, Italian designer, grew up with a zest for culture and creative expression. In Milan, his Fall collection was poetic, nodding to the past for its delicate designs. At the forefront of his collection was the palette of fiery autumnal colours. Bright orange coats, fiery red dresses, and black pieces adorned with shimmering red poppies. Our favourite style was a lace skirt, embroidered with dark orange flowers and paired with a jacket with the reverse colour scheme, orange with a black floral pattern. His sensual collection is infused with the passionate colours of autumn.
Statement sunglasses by Dolce and Gabbana
Dolce and Gabbana have fun with fashion every year. Their summery style takes inspiration from unique places and their models are bouncing with energy. This season, their show took it to another level by staging a Catholic ceremony. The holy show was an homage to the baroque Oratorio di Santa Cita church in Palermo, Sicily- the island of Domenico Dolce’s birth. Altar gates swung open and a procession of eight drones appeared each carrying a D&G handbag. The collection was a mix of velvet, sumptuous embroidery and holy slogans like ‘Fashion Devotion’, and ‘Fashion Sinner.’ For us though, the statement sunglasses stole the show. Huge oversized frames shaped in the letters D and G in gold, brightly coloured sparkling, round frames that spelled ‘COOL’ and ‘WOOW’, and a pair of show-stopping D&G shaped leopard print fur sunnies. Rowan Blanchard’s Gucci Jumpsuit
Sitting front row at Gucci’s runway was 16-year-old actress and activist Rowan Blanchard. She looked incredible, wearing green crepe wool jumpsuit from Gucci’s Spring 18 collection. It was a sleek and tailored, with short sleeves, zipped pockets and fabric belt. Her blushed pink makeup was complete with a pink velvet handbag, jeweled earrings and clunky nude leather platform heels. Everyone will be wearing green jumpsuits this summer after seeing Blanchard’s look.
Mismatched fabrics from Versace
Versace’s show was bright. With mismatched rainbow fabrics, tartan and chunky gold accessories. Many of the models wore multi-coloured scarves and headwraps over bright contrasting leggings. Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia, walked in a a matching indigo denim shirt and jeans that had been revitalised with rainbow tartan. Later in the show she rocked a navy jumpsuit embellished with a slew of contrasting colours and paisley prints. Versace’s designers used this vibrancy in their show to expertly show the accessory collection. At one point during the show, there was a break from the bright colours and the models walked out in all black, the accessories they wore stood out beautifully. Versace proved again why they are fashion royalty.
Naomi Campbell’s Monochrome Accessories
Naomi Campbell attended the Moncler Genius during Milan Fashion week in a soft monochrome outfit. The Moncler event showcased eight capsule collections, each one designed by a different creative director. The celebratory dinner was hosted in the historic Biblioteca Nazionale Braidense, a majestic public library and a rare venue for events. Campbell wore a white skirt, quilted jacket and a knee-length overcoat. She accessorized with a black choker and other monochrome pieces of jewelry. Her waved hair was tucked back to reveal a dark pair of hexagonal sunglasses. Steal her look here…

Gucci’s Cyborg Show
Gucci turned heads, literally, at Milan fashion week, with a dystopian show like no other. The show was surreal, with the space done up to look like an operating table and models walking with elaborate costumes, head pieces, three eyes and many were carrying their own heads. Creative director Alessandro Michele said the heads were intended to display the struggle of finding your identity, and “looking after your head and thoughts.” If you could peel your eyes off the replica heads, then you’d notice some some stunning looks with the quirky Gucci edge. Futuristic, exaggerated cateye sunglasses, jewel-studded sunglasses, and vintage style, over-sized, thin metal frame glasses, were all showcased for the upcoming season of eyewear from Gucci. Millie Bobby Brown’s Moncler Puffer Dress
Our favourite star from Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown, was another celebrity who looked completely fabulous at the Moncler Genius event. She wore a puffer coat as a gown on the red carpet, it had a signature Moncler logo patch decorated with stunning bead work. Brown accessorised with Repossi jewelry, including stackable rings, a single gold bracelet and a delicated necklace. Her hair was slicked back, and he nails paint black. Brown’s look was incredible anyway, but at only 14, she stole the show.
Fendi’s Female Power Looks
Last but not least, one of our choice luxury designers Fendi, gave a nod to the #TimesUp campaign with tailored looks emulating female power. The collection was a harmony of the pretty and the powerfully self-sufficient. There were boxy-shouldered dresses and coats, scalloped-edged and embroidered silk neckerchiefs, chic fitted suits, fur sweatshirts, baguette bags and elegant capes. Venturi Fendi described the collection as “a romantic uniform for a strong and powerful woman of today.” The sleek eyewear complimented each look, with vintage style round sunglasses and two-tone cateye sunglasses added to the tailored coats and suits.
