Eyewear specialists Oakley have released their latest campaign featuring an exclusive apparel range titled “Thermonuclear Protection”. The capsule collection has been developed for Spring/Summer 2018 in collaboration with Australian designer Justin O’Shea. Read on to find out more about what has inspired the collection and the designer behind the idea.
Justin O’Shea is an Australian designer and big name in fashion. He is the founder of menswear label “SSS World Corp” , which describes itself as being “Inspired by surfers, pimps, and heavy metal, SSS World Corp is a journey into the mind of a tiki-philiac. Baptized in honor of the early 1960s Super Sport Chevrolet, the debut collection “Aloha from Hell” is a post-apocalyptic ode to a beach mentality wrapped in silk.” O’Shea started as the fashion director of fashion retailer Mytheresa, where he helped grow the the store to a largely successful luxury e-commerce giant. It was then announced that he would become the creative director of Italian fashion house Brioni, despite having no previous fashion design experience.
According to The Business of Fashion, O’shea was “Spending his formative years in a remote aboriginal village in Australia, O’Shea worked the mines with his father and unpacked boxes at a supermarket. He dedicated his mid-twenties to streetwear and denim stores across Australia and Amsterdam, marking his first exposure to the realm of fashion.”
