Celebrating the past 12 months of fashion with a tinkling ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall, the Fashion Awards 2018 saw the industry’s most-established designers as well as some of talented from the new generation awarded for their contributions. Fran Summers wearing Valentino
Model Fran Summers wore a bright red bold number from Valentino, who’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli won Designer of the Year award 2018. Red is Valentino’s trademark colour and Piccioli’s latest collection worked to change people’s perception of the colour. In an interview with Vogue, Picciolo said he wants to take “a colour that sometimes feels super-powerful and strong” and make it “more romantic, more fragile, more poetic,” and this shines through in the soft ruffles of Fran Summers’s dress.

Kate Middleton wearing Givenchy
The Duchess of Cambridge made a surprise appearance on stage in order to present Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller with the British Womenswear Designer of the Year award. In her speech, Keller said: “This woman is so amazing. I got to know Meghan on such a personal level. To have someone like that trust you on such a personal moment in their life… I can’t thank you enough because it was the most beautiful moment.” Presenting the award, Kate Middleton wore a black one-shoulder fishtail gown by Givenchy that showed off her growing baby bump.

Kaia Gerber wearing Alexander McQueen
Kaia Gerber was presented with Model of the Year award this ceremony which, at 17, is a remarkable achievement. Particularly considering the competition she was up against. The daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford wore a sparkling and fierce number by Alexander McQueen.

Alessandro Michele in Gucci
After the year they’ve had, it’s unsurprising that Gucci won Brand of the Year. Their creative campaigns have been outstanding and each collection has been quirky and colourful. Creative Director Alessandro Michele wore a brown Gucci suit topped with a gold crown and necklace to accept the award.
Lana Del Ray wearing Gucci
Lana Del Ray was chosen to present Gucci’s award to Alessandro Michele. Del Ray is the new face of the Gucci Guilty line and her outfit was bold, ornate and beautifully elegant.
