Since the revival of its haute couture collection in 2015 under the creative director Hiedi Slimane, Saint Lauren Paris has seen a huge resurgence.
Drastic changes in the way Saint Laurent look have split critics between those who claim it has completely disregarded its heritage, and those who are excited by Saint Laurent’s new, youthful, rock’n’roll nature. Influences from youth culture and the music scene have seen the brands products gain a new lease of life. However, the counterculture movements and freedom of the 60’s still play a key role in defining the brand.
Anthony Vaccarello is the current creative director of the brand, but we do not know what he has in store for his first collection in Spring/Summer 2017. What we do know is, Heidi Slimane’s designs have been instrumental in the brands huge surge in sales over the past 4 years and the ‘Saint Laurent look’ is extremely popular amongst celebrities and musicians.
This season’s eyewear from Saint Laurent is no different, seen on many famous faces including the likes of Harry Styles, Jonny Depp, Kylie Jenner and more. The bold frames of the sunglasses mean they can be worn as a real statement piece with any outfit, and the classic colourways make them superbly understated and timeless. The range of sunglasses varies from beautifully crafted, classic styles like Aviators and Wayfarers, to more contemporary, playful styles with heart emotives and gold mirrored lenses.
The hearts used in the ‘Lolita’ sunglasses are from Heidi Slimane’s Fall/Winter 2016 collection expressing modern love, the hearts were a favourite of Saint Laurent’s founder back in 1970 and Slimane was keen to remind audiences of this.
The Saint Laurent Glasses collection is one of extreme class, timeless colourways and bold frames. The Havana, Black and Grey colours combined with the bold frames and beautiful detailing make them the perfect glasses. The whole collection has been designed to wear both with formal outfits, in the office or in an expensive restaurant, as well as looking just at home paired with a more casual look.
