THE INTERVIEW: Meet international jet setter, professional clothes wearer and founder of fashion and lifestyle blog ‘Things I do, think and Buy’ Charlotte Fisher!
We’ve been following inspiring fashionista and lifestyle blogger Charlotte Fisher for some time now and thanks to her blog and Instagram account, we’re continually kept up to date with the very latest fashion and lifestyle trends! This week we were lucky enough to catch up with Charlotte and find out more about her fashion and lifestyle blog, where it all began and what her top tips are for any of our readers wanting to start their own blog!
What inspired you start your own fashion and lifestyle blog?
I moved to London in September 2013 to study geography at King’s College and their campus is at Somerset House, which just so happened to have Fashion Week on when I accidentally wandered into it trying to find my lecture. A few people snapped my outfit and asked what my ‘blog’ was… and the rest is history! I went home and researched ‘blogs’ and decided it would be a great creative outlet for me, and that Christmas I asked for a good camera so I could start snapping my outfits in the New Year!
What are your top tips for anyone wanting to start a blog?
Only start one if you’re passionate about what you’re writing about as it shows. It’s the era of internet-ers so of course it seems an attractive ‘job’, but remember some people have worked years before they’re offered free things or the opportunity to make it into a career. If you have something special to offer, I don’t think it will go unnoticed if you’re persistent and hard working.
How would you describe your blogging style?
Charlotte Fisher-y is the only way I could describe it! I try and keep everything quite personal and honest.
What do you love most about life as a blogger?
Exciting opportunities and the people I’ve met along the way. Plus exciting post which isn’t just bills is a bonus!
Do you have any exciting projects in the pipeline?
I’m off to California for spring so I can’t wait for that, hopefully Coachella too!
Who are your favourite bloggers?
I can’t say I really have one in particular which inspires me, but I love to keep up with what my friends are posting/creating.
Where is the most inspiring place you have travelled to as a blogger?
I went to Mykonos and Santorini this summer with a Greek PR agency and I was so shocked at how much I loved Greece! I’d never visited before and assumed it was a cliché touristy country, but I was SO wrong. The beaches in Mykonos rivalled ones I have seen in Thailand and it had incredible architecture to match – everything was so instagrammable!!! …And we all know how good the view over the blue domes in Santorini is!
Which brands/products would you most like to work with in the future?
Well if Chanel dropped me an email I wouldn’t be complaining!
What are the biggest challenges you face as a fashion and lifestyle blogger?
I struggle with depression/bipolar II so sometimes it’s hard to be creative or find any motivation. I look around seeing other people doing so well and sometimes it can dishearten me even more.
Who takes your photographs?
To start with anybody I could bribe into doing it, but normally now just my boyfriend or fellow bloggers I’ve met up with if in London.
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
I literally have no idea! Hopefully just in a happy place.
How would you describe your own personal style, who do you take fashion inspiration from?
I wouldn’t say I have a particular personal style as such as ‘trend’, but I’m influenced a lot by Kanye West’s fashion right now (which is something I never thought I’d say…)! Come at me neutrals!
What’s your next fashion must have from B Sunglasses?
I’ve been eying up a neutral pair of Miu Miu sunnies I must say… and my glasses prescription recently changed so perhaps it’s time for a new pair of prescription Pradas!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I gym/go to gym classes a lot! I know I don’t come across online that gym stereotype, posting my protein shakes etc. but it’s true! If I’m not at the gym I’m busy surrounding myself with animals or knees deep in a Netflix series!
