The Best AW18 Fashion Campaigns So Far

We aren’t prepared for summer to end and the colder nights to begin. The new season has well and truly started in the fashion industry however, and these new AW18 ad campaigns are making the transition a whole lot easier for us…

Gucci AW18 Tailoring Campaign

Harry Styles’s early days in the X Factor seem so far away from the career path he has paved for himself today. For some years, his style has cemented him firmly in the fashion industry as well as in music, and he’s often seen out in Alessandro Michele’s designs for Gucci. However, only now has Styles officially partnered with Gucci, and the result is extraordinary. The new campaign is set in North London, in and around a fish and chip shop, and Styles and director Glen Luchford have succeeded in making it look remarkably glam. In quirky and colourful shots – true to Gucci’s style – Styles poses in embroidered jackets, check three-piece suits, and other bright Gucci wears while he holds animals or tucks into chips. We love the campaign’s authenticity, it’s individuality, and it’s nod back to home roots.

Moncler’s ‘Beyond’ Campaign

Moncler’s new star-studded campaign ties in with the launch of their capsule collection “Moncler Genius” launch earlier this year. Remarkably, the campaign, shot by Craig McDean, has 19 famous faces representing the brand. The diverse lineup includes Millie Bobby Brown from Stranger Things, Star Wars actor John Boyega, freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy, Liya Kebede the activist and model, Chef Danny Bowien, 70-year-old model from Canada Maye Musk, and many more. Moncler’s campaign displays the success of their luxury designs in attracting style icons to them each season. Shot entirely in black and white, the film embodies Moncler’s ethos: one house, different voices. Moncler asks its partners what “beyond” means to them. Check out the video here…

Alexander McQueen in San Francisco

Free-spirited and full of attitude, Alexander McQueen’s new campaign transports us to San Francisco. The city provides a stunning backdrop, emphasising the importance of culture and society, with each scene including a famous landmark. It’s the models who stand out though, Shanelle Nyasiase, Vittoria Ceretti, and Rianne van Rompaey, are vibrant, expressive and mesmerising in  luxuruious gowns. Alexander McQueen continue their collections theme of metamorphisis and magic, in this absorbing shoot photographed by Jamie Hawkesworth. The brand describe their vision: “The woman, dressed in softly armoured hybrids – one garment morphs into another – is at once respectful of and at one with her environment, appearing almost to emerge from it like a dazzling butterfly or moth.” Watch the video now and shop our Alexander McQueen collection to steal their beautiful style…

Anthony Vaccarello delivers again with his new monochrome campaign starring Zoë Kravitz. The actresses free-spirit and badass attitude comes to the fore in each still and video. Shop our Saint Laurent collection now and style yourself like Kravitz…

Jet-setting with Michael Kors

After dropping a long-term collaboration with Mario Testino, following recent allegations towards him in the industry, Michael Kors have enlisted three brand new photographers for their AW18 campaign. Inez van Lamsweerde, Vinoodh Matadin, and Lachlan Bailey all shoot the latest collection that Kors descries as “a love letter to individual style.” Inez and Vinoodh shoot this campaign in particular, starring American model Binx Walton on a luxury jet. Kors describe Binx : “Her attitude and style personify modern laid-back luxury – she is strong and a bit of a tomboy.” We love the shots of her reclining in a private jet, looking effortlessly chic in an eclectiv mash-up of prints. Everything is stunning, and sets an example of how to achieve autumnal decadence.

Calvin Klein’s Futuristic Campaign

Calvin Klein are known for their progressive style and in particular their bold, thought-provoking campaigns. Their latest is no exception, as Klein state “a new dawn is on the horizon” in their futuristic shoot. Starring the usual stunning CK models, Liya Kebede, Julia Nobis, Eric O’Connor and Luca Lemaire, the campaign and collection is a complete blend of tradition and modernity. It is a new, futurisitc take on the American Dream. Raf Simons is never afraid to play it safe with his campaigns, and this one proves just how much a good campaign can do for a brand each season. “The Fall 2018 collection is an allegory for a meeting of old worlds and new worlds, relating to the discovery of America, the 1960s Space Race, and the twenty-first century information age. Reflecting the notion of democracy, there is no cultural hierarchy: the mixes emancipate clothing and references from their meanings, from their own narratives, and collage them to discover something different – a different dream,” said Simons. In a similar way to their campaigns, Calvin Klein eyewear is as expressive as they come. Here’s a top pick from their latest collection…
