There are millions of fashion, lifestyle, travel bloggers and social influencers across the globe nowadays. And although through the many awe inspiring Instagram posts and blogs it may seem that these people have it easy, it’s certainly no mean feat. Christian Bendek or ‘The Caribbean King’ is one person that stands out.
His unique style and rugged looks set amongst the jaw dropping backdrop of Aruba is the perfect representation of island paradise. His lifestyle is inspiring and can certainly evoke a large amount of jealousy looking on from a rainy Monday morning in the UK. We sit down with Christian to find out more about his life.
Have you always lived in Aruba?
I was born and raised in Margarita Island, close to Aruba.
When you’re not in the Caribbean, where is your favourite place to travel to?
London, New York, Bogota and Mexico City, sometimes you need the energy of a big city to recharge your batteries and get inspired cause island life is so relaxing that you can become lazy.
What sort of hobbies do you have?
Photography, music… sunbathing.
How did you get in to blogging?
Instagram pushed me to blog, people always wanted more details about my outfits so I started blogging.
What is your favourite thing about modelling?
You get to visit new places, meet interesting people, wear nice clothes even when you don’t get to keep them all the time.
What advice would you give to someone who wanted to start blogging?
Patience and compromise, it took me 5 years of posting every day or almost every day to get here. So, you have to develp a style, stick to it if it works and be constant, wait for it… also try to separate your personal life from your social media “life”.
How would you describe your style?
Eclectic? Preppy? It depends how I feel and where I go, I like to dress according to the location, the people you are going to meet… I don’t feel I have a style defined…
What 3 things do you never leave the house without?
Sunglasses, my phone and my credit card
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I think I wanna move to a big city, like Mexico DF, but for sure more involved in the fashion industry, maybe behind the scenes and not so much on front of the cameras.
And finally…what sunglasses are you wearing at the moment?
I have a pair of Gucci’s i got from B Sunglasses
